Notes for Mary Hunt

Source: Seventeenth Century Isle of Wight County Virginia, John Bennett Boddie, 1938,
p 345, Lists Mary as William Boddie's 3rd wife and that they had no children. States that she was the widow of Owen Griffin and daughter of William Hunt. Her first husband was Robert Edwards.
"Daniel Boucher who was Burgess for Isle of Wight in 1653 left a legacy in his will to William and Mary Hunt, children of William Hunt. His will was dated 4 December 1667 and probated May 1668.
Robert Edwards made a deed of release from himself to William Parker, Isle of Wight, and signed this as Administrator of the Estate of his father-in-law William Hunt. "

p 347, "William Boddie's third wife, as said before, was Mrs. mary Griffin, widow of Owen Griffin and formerly widow of Robert Edwards. She survived him some 15 years, dying in 1732. Her will was dated 17th of January, 1727 and was probated the 24th of April, 1732. Among her children she mentions a daughter, Mary Bragg. We find on page 57, Book 1 (1688-1704) the following order of court: "Upon the petition of James Bragg he hath order of which estate is in the hands of Owen Griffin, belonging to Mary, wife of said Bragg, and daughter of Robert Edwards, deceased." In Deed Book 2, page 217, is a record of the appraisement of the estate of Robert Edwards by Mary Edwards, widow, 2nd May 1681. William Boddie married Mrs. Griffin about 1700 as she begins to sign his deeds at that time.
