Living Individual - Details withheldThe Washington Ancestry, Charles Arthur Hoppin, Vol 1, p 38
In the Levens Hall rental of 1375 John was holding Tewitfield in the manor of Warton in the county of Lancaster, in right of his wife Joan. The Crofts of Dalton held Tewitfield in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. In a deed (circa 1356) it is stated that John the son of Adam de Croft had died leaving a daughter and heir Joan, who had been married though under age [Dodsworth MSS. Cviij, fol. Iii]. A settlement of the lands of John and Joan his wife upon her heirs was made in 1382.
