Notes for John de Wessington

The Washington Ancestry, Charles A. Hoppin, 1932, Vol 1, p 39
In 1405 John obtained a release of the lands of James son of William son of Cecily de Bolton [Duchy of Lancaster Ancient Deeds, L. 1076]
In or before 1408 Joan widow of John gave her son John tenements in Dalton, Hutton, Over Kellet, etc. [Duchy of Lancaster Ancient Deeds, L. 1018]. It would no doubt be Joan's son John who in 1412 made a grant of a tenement in Dalton to Sir John Croft [Raines MSS (Chetham Library), xxxviij, 587]. The seal to this shows the Washington mullets and bars.

The Washington Ancestry, Charles A. Hoppin, 1932, Vol 1, p 36-37
Robert de Wessyngton of Carnforth and John de Wessyngton of Tewithfield in the manor of Warton in the county of Lancaster were no doubt the sons of Robert and Margery de Wessington.
Mention in the Priest Hutton deed in 1396, Thomas Wassyngton gave lands and tenements in Priest Hutton, which he had received from William de Wassyngton of Priest Hutton, to his son John, with remainder to his second son WIlliam and then with remainder to his third son Robert. John Wassyngton of Warton, Senior listed as a witness.
