In or before 1408 Joan widow of John gave her son John tenements in Dalton, Hutton, Over Kellet, etc. [Duchy of Lancaster Ancient Deeds, L. 1018]. It would no doubt be Joan's son John who in 1412 made a grant of a tenement in Dalton to Sir John Croft [Raines MSS (Chetham Library), xxxviij, 587]. The seal to this shows the Washington mullets and bars.
