Their grandsons, Gerrard Hawtayne (born in 1609) and Jonathan Hawtayne, removed to Barbados, West Indies, and became gentlemen-lanters. Gerrard was alive there in 1651, and Jonathan married there a daughter of Richard Peers, Equire, and had a son Richard Hawtayne, who married and was in Barbados when his cousin, John, son of Sir John Washington, Knight of Thrapston, Northants, England, came to Barbados about 1654-55 [Caribbeana, VI, 2,3]
