His father removed to New Amsterdam (New York) in 1638, while he remained at Plymouth with his grandfather, WIlliam Brewster, by who he was prepared for Harvard where he graduated in 1650. After graduation Isaac joined his father in business in New York, New Haven, Virginia and elsewhere. Soon after the death of his father in New Haven in 1659, young Isaac removed to Virginia where land had been acquired about 10 years before on the Machcatick River in Westmoreland County. He resided there until his death in 1702.
