Notes for Mary Flood

"Early Virginia Immigrants", by G. C. Greer, reads: "Mary Flood, 1650, by Capt. John Flood, Gent., and John Flood, an Ancient Planter, James City County." This seems to indicate that Mary Flood, who had been to school or on a visit to England, had her return passage paid by her eldest brother and her father.

Surry County, VA Records, p 126, January 15, 1658. A contract of marriage agreed upon between Jno. Washington and Mary foord, widow; John Washington delivers to Robert Stanton, Clerke, one mare to Thos. Blunt, sonne of said Mary his heirs, etc. when Thomas is ten years old. Signed: Jno. Washington, in presence of Jno. Flood, Edmund Shipman, Thos. Flood.
