. p 149, April 12, 1654. A marriage about to be solemnized between Arthur Jordan and Elizabeth Bavinn, late of Southwark Parish, on certain conditions have mutually agreed that Arthur Jordan make sale of certain stock, live stock. Recorded May 1, 1660.

That the Jordan and Bevin families were neighbors is indicated by an agreement between William Norwood and Arthur Jordan, April 9, 1663, to the effect "That Arthur Jordan's Spring, Swamp Run, is the dividing line; Arthur Jordan's land on S side by right from Richard Bevin and William Norwood's in right of John Blackborne." (Surry Book, I, 214)
In 1673 the Surry Court granted him a certificate showing his right to have land in Surry for the transportation of 38 persons, among whom was Fortune Flood, his sister, who married Colonel John Flood; Arthur Jordan, his brother, and Charles and William Jordan.
In 1668, Arthur Jordan was assessed with 4 tithables in Southwark Parish, Surry.

. Fol 7, March 11, 1671, 23 year of Reign of Charles II. Nico. Perry of Chas. Citty County by late marriage with Elesabeth Hutton, daughter of Daniel Hutton, dec., was tenant in dower of land whereof wife stood seized by Mr. Arthur Jordan her guardian - indemnified and for leasing land - wife died - sells all right therein to Arthur Jordan. Wit: Geo. Jordan, John Danby.

. p 69, June 16, 1671, On backside Pattent of Mr. Thos. Hunt for 836 acres of land in Surry Co. dated March 14, 1666 was written: the 836 acres taken up and surveyed by Capt. Thos. Flood, decd., and Mr. Arthur Jordan, who at the request of Mr. Tho. Hunt were willing to take out patent in their own names he paying for survey and patent they reserved to themselves 100 acres to each of them at E. end and the other 636 to Thos. Hunt's which 200 acres they settled during lifetime, or Mr. Tho. Hunt as his Exor. Geo. Jordan insets this acknowledgement being his order upon his death bed. Wit. Geo. Proctor, Nath. Knight.
. p 160, January 1, 1677, Walter Flood acknowledges to have received what was due him from John Cary, Walter Flood, now of age, and from Mr. Arthur Jordan, who was collaterally bound for paymnet and now disharge John Cary and Benj. Harrison, attorneys and Arthur Jordan. Wit: Geo. Jordan, Chris. Easter
. p 305, No Date (entry before is May 1682, entry after July 1682), Arthur Jordan claims that Robert Lee owes him 1600 lbs tobacco and 7 bus. of wheat, and has departed from his habitation and not enough goods in the estate to pay.

Judgement is granted River Jordan against Coll. Wm. Browne & Ja. Jordan Admrs. of Thos. Jordan Extr. of Lt. Coll. Geo. Jordan for 517 pounds of tobacco and Caske on ball. The said River Jordan and Arthur Jordan having made oath the account of credit now produced is all they ever reced. It is therefore Ordrd. That ye aforesd. Brown and Jordan pay the same als. Exo.

Arthur Jordan's will proved January 3, 1698/99, Surry Co, VA, names his sons George and River Jordan, son and daughter Washington, granddaughter Elizabeth Jordan and grandson, Arthur Washington.

Arthur Jordan, of Southwark Parrish, Surry CO, will dated September 24, 1698. "very sick and weake of body" To son George Jordan all the land I now possess alsoe a negro boy that now lives withe him named George, a good feather bed with a rugge and a blanket. Son River Jordan one good feather bed with a rugge and a blankett, a negro boy that now lives with him named WIlliam, a mulatto boy named John, a negro girl named Sarah. My son and daughter Washington feather bed, rugge & paire of blanketts, paire of sheets, mare called Fielo, negro girl that already lives with them name Seabro, a negro boy that now lives with them named Sam. Grandaughter Elizabeth Jordan, a cow called Dogge. Grandson Arthur Washington one cowe named Spott. ALl my other estate being in Virginia or elsewhere unto my two sonnes George and River too bee equally divided between them share and share alike. I doe alsoe will and earnestly desire that my negro Charity bee an doe imediately after my decease quietly possess and enjoy the freedome and whereas there being a late act of Assembly that they oblidge all negroes enjoying their freedome to be trasported out of this countrie before they can leave here I doe therefore command and obledge you George and River Jordan and ye are afore mentioned that you at your owne proper costs and charges to send her out of this country and so bringe her in againe and suffer her peaceably to enjoy her freedome as aforesd." "I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke and annull all and other former testaments will legacies bequests and executors by me and my wife before this time named willed & bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last will and testament." Sons Thomas and James were deceased when their father Arthur wrote his will.
