Notes for James Trabue

Rev War Pension R18543 In 1777, while a resident of Charlotte Co, VA, he enlisted men to go with Colonel George R Clarke in his expedition to the West, and in March, 1778, he marched to Boonsborough, remaining there some time, he marched to Logan Fort in Lincoln Co, KIentucky, he belonged to Capt RIchard May's Company, Col Geroge R Clarke's Regiment and was at said FOrt until Col Clarke came down the Ohio, when he marched to the Falls of the Ohio where he was appointed Commissary General and his brother Daniel Assistant Commissary to superintend supplies for Clarke's troops, the garrison at the Falls and other forts in Kentucky. In June 1780 he was captured by the British and Indians at Ruddles Fort, was taken to Detroit and then to Montreal, from which place he escaped late in the year 1780, when he returned to his post and continued in service until the close of the war.
Application for his half pay was made by soldier's brother Daniel on October 29, 1833. James and wife Jane both were dead. Daniel names James' children in application. Pension not allowed as the services rendered did not come within the provisions of the Act.
