Notes for John Browne

Source: The New England Historical and Genealogical Register, published by the Society, Boston, vol 80, p 78: Ensign John Brown sold in 1693 to his brother Obadiah 60 acres west of Sakesakett, in the Second Division, together with a tract west of the 7-Mile Line which had been owned by "my grandfather Chad". This first tract lay in the present Johnston and the last one in Scituate and Glocester, on their boundaryline.
Administration on his estate was granted November 23, 1719 to his widow Isabel and his son John. The inventory of the land of Ensign John Brown shows a homestead and right in commons, east of the 7-Mile Line, land and meadows in Wenscott, 223 acres on the west side of the 7-Mile Line 2 forty-foot lots in Providence, 1 right in a thatch bed, and right in undivided lands.
