Notes for John Greene

Source Genealogies of Rhode Island Families From Rhode Island Periodicals, indexed by Carol Lee Ford, Baltimore, Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., 1983, Vol I, p 362-377: John is styled "Lieut. John" in 1732. On January 9, 1733-34, being then of East Greenwich, he purchased 149+ acres in what in now West Greenwich, it being "the first farm in the first division in the right of Camuel Cranston", and in 1743 sold farms formerly belonging to his father and brother Caleb, both deceased. The Cranston farm was the site of his homestead. His will, made March 26, proved April 25, 1752, alludes to two sons deceased, in addition to the 12 children listed in the will.
