Notes for Arthur Aylworth

Source: Arthur Aylsworth and His Descendents in America, by Homer Elhanan Aylsworth, M.D., Providence, RI, Narragansett Historical Publishing Co, 1887, p 42 "dwelt within the present limits of West Greenwich, RI, to which locality, then a part of East Greenwich, they moved from North Kingstown before June 29, 1723. He bought of William Wanton, June 22, 1724, for 100 pounds 320 acres of land, it being the "31st farm in 3rd or last division" and was farmer and inn-keeper. She was younger than he but died first. Working in the hay field, he was taken sick on a Thursday in July, 1761, and died the following Sunday, aged 76 years. His will was made July 4, 1761, probably during his sickness, and proved August 1st, following; the will being sign Arthur Aylworth, and the personal inventory amounting to 672 pounds. The order of the first six names of their children is not known." "The names of James, John, and Dimmis are not mentioned in the will, but we find mentioned a grandson, John Phillips, and a grand daughter, Edey Whitman."

July 4, 1761 will. Proved August 1, 1761 Ex. son Jediah. To son Philip, half of land. To son David, the other half of land. To daughter Freelove Tenant, a cow, wearing apparel, etc. To daughter Anstis Calvin, bed linen, wheel, etc To daughter Barbara Hill, bed, pewter, etc. To grandson John Phillips, 20 shillings. To grandaughter Edey Whitman, 4 pounds. To son Jediah, 20 shillings and rest of movable estate. Inventory 672 pounds
