Notes for Sarah "Sally"

December 23, 1830: On December 24, 1830, Benjamin Kelly, acting Justice of the Peace, being sent for, did go to Mrs. Sarah Allmond's house, as she was unable to get from home. Under oath she said that Thomas Allmond her husband would will her and that she had lived in fear of being killed by him for twelve months past, that her had threatened that he would kill her with an ax at one time and at another that he would set the house on fire and burn her up in it, and that he fell on her last evening, the 23 day of this instance with a club and beat her much to her injury in so much that her life disphard. (sic) The justice asks the sheriff to take our a warrant. State Warrant No. 18 was issued and returned by William Tubbs Constable. Thomas was carried to jail to remain until the next court.
