Notes for Henry Walker

From "A Sketch of the Burney Family" by Thomas J. Burney: ELIZABETH WALKER BURNEY:
My brother John was sent from home when not more than 12 years of age to live with our Uncle Henry Walker at Monticello, who was then Clerk of the Superior Court of Jasper County. (Georgia)

From "A Sketch of the Burney Family" by Thomas J. Burney: HENRY WALKER:
My mother's only brother was one of the early settlers of Jasper County and the first Clerk of the Superior Court of that county. My brother John lived with him for many years. My uncle married his cousin, Luvicy Phillips, and raised a large family of children. The oldest daughter married James Pinckard. I have not much knowledge of the present whereabouts of any of them. I can recall Elijah, Henry, and Silvanus, three of the sons. My uncle was a popular man and filled a large space in the public eye. He unfortunately lost his life in a deer hunt in the Indian Territory in 1822.

Henry was killed in a hunting accident, his horse threw him. He died a few days later according to newspaper. He was the Jasper County Clerk. Sylvanus Walker and Alcey Pilcher were his parents. Luvicy was Henry's first cousin according to the Burney Sketch. The Walkers and Phillips came from NC just before the Rev. War to Wilkes Co.
