History of Davie County in the forks of th Yadkin, Wall, J.W., 1969, 76, Daniel Hunt, Jonathan's son, in an application for a pension for his own services in the Revoluntionary War, stated that Cornwallis "Came to his father's house and killed and destroyed all the property...except the dwelling house..." He stated further that the British took his father prisoner but that he was "an old and infirm man and unable to travel as the enemy's prisoner [and] was discharged in the course of one or two days." When the well built log house, believed to have been Jonathan Hunt's was torn down, several bullets were found buried in the logs.
