There is a question about which children belong to whom because Jonathan Hunt was married a total of 4 times.
According to Marjoleine Kars (2002), Breaking Loose Together, Henry McCulloh came to North Carolina as a collector of the North Carolina Ports. He has a seat on the Governor's Executive Council. He purchased a lot of land in Rowan, Mecklenburg, Anson, and Orange Counties. One some of his tracts of land in the Rowan County area, it was classified as entirely in the Granville District. Between 1760-1768 he offered some of this land for sale 8-12 sterling for about 100 acres. This was high for this period and this land. Some of the settlers objected to the prices and interest he was charging. He reposed the land from them, because of their complaints. John Hunt is showing purchasing 280 acres, Jonathan Hunt is showing purchasing 220 acres, Captain Benjamin Merrill had 2 lots making up over 800 acres. of the 15 protesters, only 3 stuck out the land deals. There was a Colonel George Smith who left the Rowan County area and returned back to Philadelphia, PA.
(Is this Colonel George Smith of Philadelphia related to James Smith?)
