From Michael Iles' website: William moved to Sugartown, LA in the 1800's. Many of his descendants live in Deridder, LA currently.

Revolutionary War Pension Application R 5475, NC and VA Line: On December 1, 1843, William appeared in court St. Landry Parish, LA in order to obtain benefit of the Pension Act of 1832. In April 1779 he enlisted under Gen. Sommer, Cols Sowell and Ruckle and served 4 months and 2 days. He went home for two months and then went to Nansmond Co, Virginia and was substitued in the place of William Carstarphin and marched out under Capt. Elias Herrin or Col Gaskins Regiment up the River until he reached Petersburgh where they had a short engagement. Then they returned and crossed the James River at Richmond and remained there until he was discharged. During this tour he was a Sergeant. After discharge he returned to Southampton Co, Virginia when in 1780 he substitued himself in the place of John Carstarphin under the command of Col Rockwell. After 6 weeks he was discharged and returned to his native NC for 2 weeks. He was again called out against the Tories, who were between Cape Fair and Pedie, for which service each soldier furnished himself, with a horse and military accoutrement. Command Philip Saunders and John Pritchett. This tour was 3 months and 13 days after which he returned home.
