Notes for Matthew Holland Hall

Journal Sister of William Douglas Hall (which sister unknown probably Sarah A)), "Leaves from a Woman's Private Journal," Between 1880 - 1894, p 6: "Mathew and Mary were twins; ....; he married Mrs Ann Moore and several other women and is still living, a faded, foolish ol' debauche and almost a pauper after all his wastefulness."

From Portrait and Biographical Record of Macoupin County, Illinois; Chicago: Biographical Publishing Company, 1891, p 430: Matthew was four years old when his parents brought him to Macoupin County, of which they thus became early pioneers, settling here in 1823. After his marriage with Mrs. Ann (Sheton) Moore, widow of John Moore, he bought a tract of land on section 6, Brushy Mound Township, which had not then been organized and named, and engaged in farming there some years. He then traveled in the Western country four years, and since his return has resided with his brother Oliver. His wife died on the homestead in 1888.
