1778 Signed Oath of Allegiance in Maryland.. He was ordained in Farmer

February 21, 1780, Sullivan County, NC (later Sullivan Co, TN) , warrant number 189, buys 100 acres in Carters Valley joining Stoney Creek nobs

August 24, 1780, Sullivan County, NC (later Sullivan Co, TN) , warrant number 677, buys 200 acres joining the river to include a sinking spring

November 12, 1795 Ely's 300 acres on the north side of Holstons river, Land surveyed and recorded, John Anderson DS, Geo VIncent CS, Richard Shipley and John Shipley CC (chain carriers ?) This land is currently in Sullivan County, TN, on what is now a part of Warriors Path State Park and where Eli Shipley and other members of his family are buried in the Shipley cemetery.

March 19, 1808, Sullivan County TN deed book 6, 1809-1815, p 204, Sarah Shipley and George Elmore to Eli Shipley and Benjamin Shipley, 100 acres north side of the Holston River; being part of a tract of land granted by patent from the state of NC to Valentine Pope containing 300 acres dated Feb. 13, 1791
