DB 8, Halifax Co, NC, June 23, 1763, Richard Tatum to Jno. Iles (note: the original, which appears to read as "fleis" has at sometime been corrected), 200 acres west side of Rocky Swamp, joining Tatum, Hart Meadow Branch

Halifax Co, NC, November Court 1785, John Isles Constable in District No 2 for the ensuing year.
August Court 1786, Benjamin Fugue aged eight years orphan of Joseph Fugue dec'd bound unto John Isles until he arrives at lawfull age, to learn the calling of a Farmer.
February Court 1787, John Isles appointed Collector of Public Taxes for the year 1786 for district No 2, sum of 600 pounds with Ephraim Knight and Wm Wootten Secys.

Will written September 25, 1812, exhibited in open court February 1817.( Will Book 3, page 601) Halifax County, North Carolina. Daughter Fanny and son Charles were Executors.
