Surry Co. Deeds, WIlls &c 5, 1694-1709, p 221, John Clements deposed March 3, 1701/2 that he was 70 years of age.
He was claimed as a headright by his father, 1635, and lived in Southwark parish, Surry County, where he bought 50 acres from George Foster, April 1, 1663. He was an adherent of Nathaniel Bacon and is named on a list of "pardoned Rebells", February 6, 1676/7. After the Rebellion Arthur Allen petitioned against him, November 6, 1677, alleging he had been "damnified" by Clements. Allen was awarded damages in the amount of 300 pounds of tobacco. John Clements owned 387 acres in Surry County, 1704. The name of his wife is not known.
