Source Southern Christian Index, February 2, 1863: Died in Richmond, October 30, 1862, Henry C Burgay, in the 18th year of his age. He was born in Jones county, Ga., Feb 21, 1844, and as soon as the war begun his heart was fired with the noble impulses of freedom and in his 16th year he is numbered among the gallant 12th Ga, under Capt. Pitts, of Jones county. A few month passed away and he received a discharge on account of sickness. He came home and soon after joined Capt. Phillips' Company of Putnam, who were called to defend the coast. Here his health improved rapidly, and when the time of service was over he, though not subject to conscript, generously tendered his services for a relative and was soon united to Capt. Hitchcock's company of the 44th GA, Putnam Volunteers.
He was wounded at Gaines' Mills, on June 26th in the leg which was afterward amputated and resulted in his death. Before parting from his mother the last time he said: "I feel it my duty to go and when I die I want to die on the battle field. I am willing to offer my life if it but save the country." He died in the hospital after lingering four months between hope and fear and is now, we trust, where pain and death are no more. His last words were, "My dear mother, I feel I am far from you but God is with me. I have a good word for you, mother, I am trying to serve the Lord."

Monroe County, Georgia 1863 Salt List includes Mrs. Burgey on p 515 under Names of Widows of Deceased Soliders. This entitled her to a 1/2 bushel of salt free. Could this have been his mother?
