Peter was brought to Nansemond River, Virginia area from England in 1635 by Richard Bennett. In 1654 he was living in Isle of Wight County and is said to have been an early settler of Surry County. After Peter's death, John Litford married his widow and gained control of Peter's estate. Thomas Lewis of the Isle of Wight County was in debt to Litford, so to clear the debt, Litford gave Peter's three children, now being of age, recovered 250 acres in Surry County which was part of their father's original estate.
