The Vestry Book and Register of Bristol Parish, Virginia 1720-1789, privatedly printed, Richmond, VA 1898, p 24: at a Vestry held at the Chapple June 28, 1725, "Godfry Radgsdale doth pettition that he hat a moll. girl born in his house prays the same moll. by name may be bound to him and his heirs as the law directs in such cases his pettition is granted."

"...I, Godfrey Ragsdale, of the County of Henrico...to my son Godfrey, this plantation, I now live on...to my sons John and Edward, my tracht of land at Nottaway River lying over the Great Creek near Edward Callwell...to my brother, Benja Ragsdale one hundred and sixty acres of land lying upon Namosen...to son-in-law Christopher Martin, the remainder part of the said Namosen Tracht of land...to John Brown one hundred acres of land lying at the upper end of the Tracht he formerly lived on lying on Youle's Branch...I give and bequeath to my son Godfrey the remainder of the said Tracht of land lying upon Youle Branch..." sheets, blankets, farm animals, etc. to my daughter Ann...my daughter Rachell...my daughter Elizabeth...my loving wife....my son-in-law Christopher Martin (Colonial term for stepson)...I appoint my loving wife Elizabeth my hole and sole execetrix...this 25th day of April 1726." He signs. Test: Wm. Worsham, Robert Bevill, and Wm. Powell. Approved Monday in July 1731. Test: Bowler Cocke.
