The family moved from Rutherford Co, NC to Habersham Co., GA. Richard was listed in a special census in 1832 in Cherokee Co. The Roaches were there by 1843.
He signed his will December 23, 1847, Cherokee County, GA, Will Book pp 4 & 5, proven by nephew, Sanders Walker Ragsdale, son of brother Elijah
