From Godfrey Ragsdale by Caroline Skelton, p 33: "Edmond was born on a plantation lying along Bluestone Creek waters of Roanoke RIver, Virginia.

Greenville County, SC Book E, p 119: 225 acre land grant in 1793 to Edmond. Greenville SC Book L, p 259, deeded 100 acres of the original grant to Dr. Edward Carter Ragsdale his son.

In the name of God, Amen. I Edmond Ragsdale of the state of South Carolina and District of Greenville being of sound mind and disposing mind and memory, but weak in body, and calling to mind the uncertainty of life, and being desirous to dispose of all such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with, do make and ordain this my last will, in manner following that is to say
I desire that after my death, that my body be decently buried my funeral expenses paid, and all my just debts paid. I desire that my executors hereinafter names, may sell the whole of my estate both personal and real, after payment of my debts and funeral expenses.
I give to my wife Sarah Ragsdale, an equal share with all of my children, except the heirs of my son John which I intend to draw one half share with my wife and the rest of my children. As I have already given unto my son Peter, John, William and my daughter Marinda, two hundred and sixty dollars each. I desire in the first place that the same amount which I have given to my son Peter, John, William and Marinda be given to my daughters Ann and Jane $260 and two hundred dollars ($200) to my son Edward C. with interest there on from first of August last (1848). I desire that the half share which I have given to John's heirs shall be given exclusively to his two sons, Thomas and Robert after making up the above amount of two hundred and sixty dollars to my daughter's Ann and Jane with interest and two hundred dollars to my son Edward C. with interest. I desire that my wife Sarah and all of my children be made equal as above specified, except the children of my son John who are to draw one half share with the rest. The children of my son John are both together only to have one half as much as the rest of my children.
And, lastly, I do constitute and appoint my son Edward C Ragsdale executor of this my last will and testament by me heretofore made in testimony where of I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal. This the ninth day of November and in the year of our Lord 1848. Edmund Ragsdale

Lebanon Methodist Church History, p 56, "Edmond Ragsdale, son of Peter, is said to have been first buried in the old cemetery with his parents, but later when his wife died his remains were moved to be buried beside her in the present church cemetery.
