In the name of God Amen: I Mathew Brickhouse of Tyrell County and State of North Carolina calling to mind the mortality of this uncertain life and being of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God do make and ordain this my last will & testament I recommend my soul to God that gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a Christian like manner and as touching such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I give and dispose of in the following manner. Viz:

I give and bequeath to my son Peter Brickhouse the land where I now live on the south side of the public road binding on said road and on Lightwood stump branch.

I give and bequeath to my son John Brickhouse my manner plantation whereon I now live binding on the sound and on the public road I give to my son John Brickhouse my swamp and land on the east side of Ashbees land know by the name of New Patent. I give to my son John Brickhouse one negro boy named Frank one feather bed furniture and one large iron pot and hooks and it is my will & desire that my son John Brickhouse shall pay to my son Peter Brickhouse $60 in cash payable in three payments which is twenty dollars a year for three years.

I give & bequeath to my two sons Uzzier & Richd. Brickhouse all that land I bought of Wm. Hassell & Ezekiel Alexander to be equally divided between them Uzzial to have his part next to the sound and Richd. part next to the road. I give & bequeath to my son Richd. Brickhouse one negro boy name Isaac. I give & bequeath to my son Wm. Brickhouse one negro boy named Ichibod.

I give & bequeath to my daughter Ader Meekins one negro boy named Duke one cow and calf. I give and bequeath my daughter Nancy Clough one negro woman named Jane & Ten dollars in cash. I give & bequeath my daughter Betsey Brickhouse one negro woman named Grace one feather bed & furniture. I give & bequeath my granddaughter Priscilla Brickhouse fifty dollars in cash for the purpose of giving her education.

I make and ordain my sons Wm. and John Brickhouse my executors to this my last will & testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 23d day of April in the year of our Lord 1810.
