Revolutionary War pension claim, S.40288, that Jonathan Potts enlisted at Hillsboro or Leesburg, Londoun County, Virginia, December 5, 1776, served as a private in Captain William Smith's Company, Colonel Daniel Morgan's Eleventh Virginia Regiment, was in the battles of Brandywine, Germantown,
White Marsh, Mommouth and a skirmish at White Plains and was discharged December 6, 1779.

After the Revolution, he moved to western Pennsylvania, then to the State of Ohio.

He was allowed pension on his application executed June 27, 1818, at which time he was aged sixty-two years and resided in Jefferson County, Ohio, where he had lived for twenty years.

In 1820, he was residing in Jefferson County, Ohio, with his son and his son's family, no names are given, nor is the name of his wife and date of marriage stated. A son, Thomas Potts, is referred to, his age is not given. Soldier died July 4, 1831.

S.40275, based upon the Revolutionary War service of David Potts.

He was born sometime in November, 1756, place not stated.

While residing in Loundon County, Virginia, he enlisted December 5, 1776 and served as a private in Captains William Smith's and William Slaughter's companies, Colonels Daniel Morgan's and James Wood's Virginia regiments, he was in the battles of Brandywine, Germantown, Mommouth, storming of Stony Point, and was discharged in December, 1779.

He subsequently served under Colonel West in the Virginia troops at the capture of Cornwallis, length of service not stated.

He was allowed pension on his application executed April 22, 1818, at which time he was living in Pickaway County, Ohio.

In 1820 he stated that his family then living with him were as follows: his wife, her name not given, aged about sixty-two years; two children, Nancy aged twenty-three years and David aged about fourteen years; and one grandchild, Polly Wolverton, an orphan, aged over fourteen years.
