For his obituary in the Monroe Advertiser, November 15, 1907, Joseph was buried with honors of the Masonic order. Mr. English was 83 years of age and had been a resident of the community in which he died nearly all his life. He was a confederate veteran in the Civil war and did valiant service for the defense of the South.
