Notes for Ennis Hughes

September 6, 1820, Shelby County, Alabama Records: Enis Hughes stated that he received from Henry Cox, administrator of the estate of Jane McCain, all my dowry that is coming to me as an heir of the said estate. (His wife Mary was a daughter of Jane)

Could this be Ennis's father?
William Hughes, Sr. born 1752 in Bladen District South Carolina, Died in Shelby County, Alabama April 24, 1833, buried in Old Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery, south of Wilsonville in Shelby Co, AL. In 1776 enlisted as a Private in the North Carolina Militia, about 3 years after the close of the war, his marriage to Sarah Eades listed in Columbia County, Georgia. Applied for pension on August 20, 1832.
