Notes for Peter Newton Acker, Jr.

Noble Acker page H: "It is said by Peter Acker Jr. family that he was born in Pennsylvania however I have no proof of this."

Source: Acker History by Noble Acker
After examining the legible Bible records of Peter Acker II, I find no birth of Peter II. After researching the census records from 1790-1850 and a number of other documents concerning Peter Acker II, there is no conclusive evidence that he is the oldest son as indicated by some of the family.
William's children range in age almost the same as Peter II. Family traditions indicate that Peter II Bible was purchased in Virginia by Susannah Halbert before departing from that state. These Bible records date back to 1810. This date shows the death of Missourie Acker who died June 6 of that year. One page shows the death of the slaves. Most of the later contents have been recorded and made known by the family histories, etc.
Many of the Ackers who reside in South Carolina today are descendants of this family and henceforth have provided much valuable and historical records of the early Ackers in South Carolina. Much of the contents of the Acker-Halbert History, written by Elisha David Acker in 1928, was furnished by the Ackers in South Carolina. Other sources of information also came from the History of Anderson County, Halbert Family history, McDavid Family history, Moore Family history, Ligon Family history and other sources which will be indicated at a later date. The entire Acker-Halbert History by E. D. Acker will be added respectively with each family or personal biography in their particular branch of this history. This will eliminate confusion since many names are repeated throughout the years.
Mr. William David Acker, Jr. in Anderson, S.C. has contributed authenticated documents relating to William Acker, Sr. in Hunterdon Co., N. J. and other valuable information concerning Peter Sr., Peter Jr. and later generations.
