Mary Ann McCain Ballard remembers her father Clarence talking about when after his mother died he and Otis went to Oxford, Calhoun County, Alabama to live with their grandparents Rev. William Franklin and Elizabeth Olivia McCain. At this same time Rev. McCain's daughter Flora had lost her husband and she and her two young boys were living in the household. Four boys under 8 years of age!
