Notes for James Robert Nabours

From Icle Smith's records: Both Marinda and James Robert were born and reared in Greenville, SC. In early married life came to Marshall County and settled at the foot of Brindlee Mountain near Thompson Falls. They were parents of 10 children.

From J.A. Thomason writings from 1945-1950, General History of Marshall County Alabama
p. 211 "James Nabors lived on top of a hill across Mink Creek, in the road leading across the mountain by Thompson Falls, close to where you cross the ridge where the road intersects with the Guntersville-Summit road at Diamond. The place was owned by William Nabors, BP Johnson, JW Johnson, JP Johnson. James and Renda were laid to rest on this farm."

1850 Census shows him as a farmer in Warrenton Beat, Marshall County, Alabama, printed page 245, December 5, 1850, spelled his name Neighbors

1860 Census Marshall County, AL, p 927A printed, 14 written, shows him as a farmer in Guntersville, June 7, 1860, spelled his name Nabours, $1500 real estate.
