Moved to Auburn, Alabama at age 2. Graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute, now Aubutn University, in 1947 with a degree in home economics. She moved to Guntersville after graduation to work in the Home Demonstration Divison of the marshall County Extension office. She met her husband, Paul, her first Sunday in town while attending the First Methodist Church.
